We thank you for your patience at this time.
There are times in our lives when we can experience distressing life events, and we find ourselves overwhelmed with difficult feelings that can negatively affect our relationships and sense of wellbeing.
When this happens, counselling and psychotherapy can be very helpful and effective. A counsellor will not minimize the problems or pass judgement, but will try to help you discover more about yourself, so that in time you can find your own solutions. We offer a warm, safe and supportive environment in the heart of Watford town centre for such important work to occur.
"My counsellor was very patient and helpful. She listened with a caring heart. The warm welcome also helped me feel comfortable with the whole counselling experience"
We are a Christian counselling service and offer short term or longer term low cost counselling. Our ethos is to be of service to our local communities. Spirituality is important to us but we fully respect our clients’ right to make their own decisions in all aspects of life including faith. The service is offered to all, irrespective of religious, cultural or ethnic background. We use an integrative relational counselling model that can be tailored to meet the needs of a wide range of men and women aged 18 and over.
Our counsellors are trained at the London School of Theology, coming from a range of cultural backgrounds and with a wide range of experience working with individuals. They are all trained towards becoming accredited with the British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP). We work within the BACP Ethical framework and we are an official accredited service of the BACP. All counsellors are regularly clinically supervised in line with BACP regulations.
REMA Counselling has previously been known as Watford Christian Counselling Service. REMA Counselling has been serving the local community for the last 15 years and we are located at The Barn, 1 Watford House Lane, Watford, Herts WD17 1BJ. We are conveniently located close to Watford High Street station, Watford Junction station, the local buses and many car parks.
"My confidence has grown and life is very much brighter. The practical advice/exercises have been really helpful as I’m able to continue to use many of these at home."
The first step is to make an appointment and phone 01923 255 197. or send an enquiry email through the link below. Our general email is email@example.com The first person you talk to will take you through our processes and book an appointment for an initial assessment with our Clinical Manager.
The initial assessment is a chance for you to visit REMA counselling and discuss what brings you to counselling. You will also have the opportunity to ask any questions about counselling and your fee will be set.
The initial assessment is free and lasts 50 mins and is in a safe and confidential space.
After your initial assessment, a counsellor will be allocated at a time to suit your availability. When you start your sessions, you will be seen on a weekly basis by the same counsellor and always on the agreed day and time.
In order for the counselling to be beneficial we are asking you to try to commit to 10 sessions initially.
After that we are here for you. Counselling continues for as long as necessary but no longer than you need.
Ending your personal counselling
Ending counselling is an important step in your personal journey. It often brings up difficult emotions and we value the importance of the relationship you have with your counsellor.
Together you can review your progress and discuss the best time for you to terminate your counselling. You will then work towards an ending and a chance to say goodbye to each other.
“It was nice to have a safe place to explore my problems. I had a chance to label some of my inner thoughts and conflicts. This helped me manage my problems better.”
Counselling is all about you. It can provide you with a safe, quiet and confidential space where you can develop a deeper understanding of your own thoughts and process your feelings with the support of a counsellor
Your counsellor will not minimise the problems or pass judgment, but will try to help you discover more about yourself, so that you can find your own solutions.
They will not tell you what to do or give you advice. However, the counsellor will help empower you to find your own solutions.
“Having a trained person to accompany you through emotions and thought processes is invaluable. Much more helpful than trying to work through things alone.”
We believe the counselling should be available to all so we price based on a sliding scale against income.
The Initial Assessment is Free
The fees are based on sliding scale based on your annual Income:

£10000 - £20000: £20 per session
